Who we are

Hidden Dartmoor guides are all covered by public liability insurance

Confirmation of Booking:
A 25% deposit non-refundable is required to confirm a booking. Balance payable 14 days before the first booked touring date, or full price if after that date. 

Cancellation Policy:

 (Applies to bookings received after 16th April2021, until further notice).

During the current COVID-19 situation, if a confirmed booking is cancelled, the following charges, plus any unrecoverable expenditure (e.g. pre-booked venues or tickets), will apply:
Until two weeks before the first booked touring date:

Refund of deposit.

Because of the nature of the business, catering and booking venues on specific dates refunds are only possible before 14 days before the event. After this time only partial refunds are available


Two weeks notice plus: 100% of the total fee
One week’s notice: 75% of the total fee.
48 hours notice or less: 0% of the total fee.

In the event that Hidden Dartmoor considers that you should not attempt to do a specific experience – for example because of unexpected adverse weather – and there is no mutually agreeable alternative tour, you would receive a full refund for any monies paid for guide services.

 Refunds will not be made for any tours cancelled by clients because of conditions prevailing outside the UK. Such refunds should be covered by clients’ Travel Insurance.

Hidden Dartmoor cannot be responsible for cancellations due to unscheduled closures by third party suppliers, or events beyond its control, but will do all possible to offer an alternative. Nor is it liable for any loss, accident, injury or damage to clients and their personal effects

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Who we share your data with

When we work with other experts in the field it is to bring you an amazing Dartmoor experiences, it may be necessary to share very limited details with our co-hosts. We will not share any information that is not completely necessary to cater to the needs of our walk and event attendees, and our co-hosts will not share or use this information outside of the walk or event that has been booked, unless you specifically request otherwise.

As Hidden Dartmoor is a very small business, and we sometimes work with other third party organisations or contractors, who may have access to some of Hidden Dartmoor’s customer information. They will also be required to take to protect your data, and together we will take the issue of people’s personal data protection very seriously.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
